Range Rover Ups the Luxe Factor in India: Range Rover & Range Rover Sport Now Locally Assembled

Exciting news for Indian luxury car enthusiasts! Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) India has announced that they’ve begun local assembly of select variants of the iconic Range Rover and Range Rover Sport SUVs in India. This move is set to shake up the market by making these premium vehicles more accessible.

Sharp Price Cuts & Local Production

Previously imported as Completely Built Units (CBUs), the locally assembled Range Rovers will boast significant price reductions. The Range Rover LWB, for instance, sees a price drop of up to Rs 56 lakh, making it a more attractive proposition for discerning buyers.

Assembly & Availability

JLR’s facility in Pune will now be responsible for assembling these luxurious SUVs. This plant already churns out other Land Rover and Jaguar models like the Evoque, Velar, Discovery Sport, and F-Pace. Deliveries for the locally assembled Range Rover have already begun, while the Range Rover Sport will hit showrooms starting August 16, 2024.

Variants on Offer

If you’re in the market for a locally assembled Range Rover, you’ll have two options: the 3.0L Petrol LWB Autobiography and the 3.0L Diesel LWB HSE. The Range Rover Sport, on the other hand, is currently offered in a single, locally assembled variant – the Dynamic SE with a choice of 3.0L petrol or diesel engines. Don’t worry though, JLR has confirmed that a wider range of imported variants will still be available for those seeking a truly bespoke experience.

A Move Forward for JLR India

This shift to local assembly signifies JLR India’s commitment to the Indian market. It not only strengthens their position in the luxury SUV segment but also makes these coveted vehicles more attainable for a wider range of buyers. With deliveries underway, expect to see these locally assembled Range Rovers and Range Rover Sports turning heads on Indian roads soon!
